Stylish houseplant mounting workshop
Planters are so 2020, let your plants go wild and free on the wall instead
Time & Location
24 Apr 2021, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
8 London Street, 8 London Street, Lyttelton 8082, New Zealand
Join us for a fun afternoon in Lyttelton learning how to make your own living wood-mounted stylish houseplant.
Did you know that certain houseplants like to grow up walls and can grow attached to something instead of inside a pot? Don't worry - we didn't either until Instagram made it popular. Epiphytes are plants that grow on other plants or trees and receive nutrients and water from the air, rain and decaying matter around them. They make great houseplants due to their minimal water and soil requirements and are excellent candidates for mounting. You might know them, some are rhipsalis, ferns, philodendrons and even hoyas.
In this hands-on class, you'll create your very own mounted plant choosing from our wide array of colorful epiphytic plants, bright sphagnum moss and a unique piece of wood, bark or natural cork. You will have a large selection of plants and mounting backs to chose with the opportunity to upgrade to luxury materials on site. You'll learn all about the care for these special plants and can choose to create a small or large mount - all while enjoying hanging out in the jungle oasis. We will supply you with everything you need to know and provide you with everything you need so that you leave NODE with a living piece of art.
No experience needed, all materials, gear, and plants included with delightful refreshments and snacks will be provided by Liz's partner Giulio Sturla (of Mapu Test Kitchen) and luckily New Zealand chef of the year in 2018.
